The meaning of the name of Andersen's fairy tale “The Snow Queen”
Andersen Hans Christian

After reading the fairy tale "The Snow Queen" by H.H. Andersen, I thought: "Why is she called that?"

I think that it is called that because the main character of the fairy tale is the Snow Queen. The story begins and ends with her. The Snow Queen separated Kai and Gerda. And therefore, the girl throughout the tale is looking for her beloved friend.

If the fairy tale was called "Gerda", then it would carry the same meek, kind, gentle meaning as the girl herself. And if Gerda did not have to overcome so many obstacles, then the story told by Andersen would be much shorter, and perhaps less interesting. After all, a fairy tale usually attracts by the fact that in it good triumphs over evil.

The Snow Queen is a negative character. She is domineering, tough, cold, wayward, insensitive. I have doubts that the Snow Queen is as cruel as she wants to appear. Because she was attached to Kai in her own way and did not want to let him go.
