Link (hyperlink)
Link (hyperlink): An automated cross-reference in a source document to a target, whether another document or another part of the same document. In hypertext systems, such as the World Wide Web, users click on links, which may be displayed as images or text, to jump within a document or among a set of documents. When displayed as text, links are normally distinguished from the surrounding text by the use of underlining and color or by other stylistic elements. Major types of links include internal links, the links within a given website; inbound links, links from an external source to a given website; and outbound links, links from a given website to an external target.
