Elizabethan Theatre Work

Introducing Shakespeare: A Graphic Guide - Nick Groom, Piero 2013

Elizabethan Theatre Work

Theatre work was collaborative, and not only during one’s apprenticeship. Writing for the Elizabethan stage was teamwork, as was production and performance, and subsequent revision and publication. Shakespeare was a professional man of the theatre: an actor, a dramatist, and eventually a business partner. By writing for specific members of his company, such as the comedian Will Kemp, his work was very much the product of a specific moment in the history of drama.
