Epode

Epode: (1) The third stanza of the classical Greek choral ode. After the strophe and the antistrophe, which involve movement, the chorus sang the epode while standing still. (2) The third of three recurrent parts of the Pindaric ode. (3) A poem in which a short stanza or line follows a long one.
